Jan 4

Jack Frost Ski Trip

 

Return to the troop’s favorite resort.  Ski or board with lessons available in the Pocono Mountains. Families are always welcome on this popular winter outing!  A great place for first timers and beginners.  Give it a try!

Jan 24-25

Winter Cabin & Curling Trip

 

Curling! Curling? Yes! Learn an olympic sport at the Ardsley Curling Club, where we will have 2 hours of instruction and fun on the ice. Afterwards, cabin camp at Camp Bullowa. Enjoy sledding, snow shoeing or building a snow shelter, and indoor cabin activities. Sunday morning bowling fun on the way home.

Klondike Trail

 

Teamwork, skills, and your sled will get you through this annual winter challenge, competing at Duke Island Park against patrols from troops across our district.

Big Boulder Ski Trip

 

Jack Frost's sister resort offers excellent scout rates and friendly conditions. Lesson+list+rental packages available; troop families always welcome. Rain Date March 8th at Blue Mountain.

Agriculture & Art Campout

 

Camp two nights at a working farm in South Jersey. Work on scout skills and advancement and spend your free time exploring a working NJ farm. On Sunday, experience a little culture during a visit to Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton.

Sleeping Giant Campout

 

Friday night backpack ½ mile to a hemlock-ravine campsite at Sleeping Giant State Park for 2 nights of great wilderness camping. Saturday, day-hike 5 miles over the “Sleeping Giant”. Start the hike through Hezekiah’s Knob, then over the Giant’s right knee. Visit a stone castle tower on the chest and climb the Giant’s chin. Sunday, hike out and visit the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, CT

May 15/16 - 17

Montauk Bike Trip

 

Experience New York's eastern-most point by bike! Camp near the lighthouse in Camp Hero State Park, located in Long Island's Montauk State Park.  Spend Saturday biking along magnificent pristine maritime forests, freshwater wetlands, spectacular ocean vistas and dramatic bluffs rising from the beach. On Sunday, explore the area and take a Seal Hike with a Park Ranger. On the way home, visit the famous Big Duck of Flanders!

June 20 - 21

Mullica River Canoe Trek

 

Canoe-Camping at its Best!! We will be bringing all our gear in the canoes and camping along the Mullica River. Located in Wharton State Forest we will be passing swamps and beaver dams in the majestic Pine Barrens of southern NJ. After camping in a riverfront wilderness site, we will conclude our trek on Sunday, enjoying the ecological diversity of one of the least-disturbed marine wetlands habitats in the northeastern US.

Return to New Hampshire! Highlights include boating, swimming, shooting sports, merit badges and many exciting high adventure programs for our older scouts.

Rodeo Adventure

 

Attend the oldest weekly running rodeo in the US! Experience Professional Rodeo excitement in Bull Riding, Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Girl’s Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and Tie Down Roping! Overnight camping at nearby Roosevelt Scout Reservation.

US Open

 

Spend the day exploring the US Open during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. Held at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY, Kids' Day The free Grounds Festival offers interactive games, music and tennis activities for all ages so that kids and their families can enjoy the health and fitness benefits of tennis. Families can test their skills, watch top tennis pros and have a chance to win prizes. The Grounds Festival also features a free concert with exciting up-and-coming talent on the Hess Express Stage.

Liberty Jamboree

 

Experience a Boy Scout Jamboree in Liberty State Park. The weekend will feature Outdoor Challenges, High Adventure, Backwoods Engineering & S.T.E.M. activities. Overnight camping with campsite views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the New York City skyline. Also featured are an evening Arena Show & Live Entertainment.

Go Navy! Visit the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and take in a football game! Watch the Midshipmen March On and see the Blue Angels fly over. Tour the US Naval Academy.

Patrols compete at the District’s annual first aid challenge.

Winter Day Trip

 

Spend the day or night participating with Troop 84 in an activity voted on during the spring. What will it be? Rock Climbing? Rutgers or professional basketball? NJ Devils Hockey? Scouts will be surveyed in the spring.

September 19th – 21st Wilderness Survival Trek
 

Using stealth trails and a minimum of gear, trek into the remote wilds of Western Catskills. Using survival methods build shelters, fires and catch your food while earning the merit badge.

November 2nd Mountain Bike Day Trip
  Bike challenging trails at a new or traditional single track destination
 

2015

Jan 31st – Feb 1st Catskills Snow Trek
 

Snowshoe deep into the Catskills Wilderness and spend the night in a snow shelter you built.

February 14th  B.S.A. Scuba
 

Earn the certification at a local pool. Learn and experience Scuba!

March 6th – 8th   Vermont Ski Weekend
  Spend two nights in Cabin up in Vermont.. Ski/Board two of North East’s premier winter resort destinations! On Saturday we will go to Pico which offers the experience of a large mountain with the personal touch of a small ski area.  On Sunday, we’ll go to Killington, the largest winter resort on the East Coast, offering some of the longest and most challenging runs
Apr 10th – 12th 

Sterling Forest Backpacking Trek

  Trek for 3 days along the Appalachian Trail and through Sterling Forest in New York State – Climb to Mombasha Highpoint, see Fitzgerald Falls and hike along the escarpment of Bellvale Mountain with Bouldering at ‘Cat Rocks’ and the ‘Eastern Pinnacle’
May 1st – 3rd   Watchu Weekend
 

Philmont Crew will participate in the Council’s Shakedown at Allamuchy Scout Reservation (crew slots still open)

  Take a plane out to Colorado and visit the sites to get acclimated to the elevation before starting the 11 day trek through the Scout Ranch that is in the Southern Rockies in New Mexico.  60-100 miles of unbelievable scenery and high adventure activities at each days destination.  Crew chooses their Trek
July 11th – 18th Sabattis
 

Explore the lake country in canoes or trek through the back country of the Adirondacks in New York.  Climb mountains and sleep under the stars.  As a crew choose your own Venture Trek.

September 18th – 21st     Panther Mountain Backpacking Trip
 

Test out your backpacking skills in advance of Philmont sign-ups for 2016.  Trek for 3 days over Panther Mountain, and camp on top of the Ledges with 360 degree - awe-inspiring views!

October 2nd – 4th Liberty State Park Jamboree
 

Join the Patriots Path Council and over 5,000 other scouts at the 1st overnight Scout event at Liberty State Park in over a decade.  Enjoy Outdoor challenges, Backwoods Engineering, High Adventures activities, including 5 zip lines, and campsite views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the New York City Skyline.  Evening activities will include an arena show and live entertainment.

November 7th Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays
 

Spend the day shooting clay pigeons at the most unique shotgun range with over 20 different firing stations around a two mile long loop.
